Q

Hi John. LOVED your seminar in NYC last night. One question about the QBI deduction. I have seen from other sources that the deduction is the lesser of 50% wages, 25% wages plus 2.5% assets, or 20% QBI, but you said yesterday 20% taxable income minus LTCG. Could you please confirm that you are right?

Tax Practice Pro Inc responded on 01/17/2018
A

It's also the lower of 20% of taxable income.

If you look through the other slides we did not cover, QBI is adjusted by a number if things: LTCG, gains and losses on asset sales... Guy

Is Ohio one of the nine (9) states who has approved you for continuing legal education (CLE)?

Tax Practice Pro Inc responded on 12/11/2017
A

The program is not currently registered, but we would be happy to submit it today of you register today. It will cost $125 to register (since we are within 60 days of the event). I don't know why I did not think to submit it previously.

from the OH Supreme Court:

Deadline and Fees for Courses Held in Ohio

If your program will take place in Ohio, you must submit your application, including required attachments and fees, at least sixty days in advance of the program. The application fee for timely submissions is $25. An additional late fee of $100 is assessed if the application is submitted less than sixty days prior to the program.

Do you have a NJ CPE Sponsorship #

Tax Practice Pro Inc responded on 11/06/2017
A

No, but we have a NASBA number pending, which would alleviate that problem. I am told it will come 'any day' but so far we are not in the Learningmarkets Registry. Its not helpful to you, but of course we have IRS approval and 9 states have us approved for attorney legal education.....

When will you be offering advanced tax training courses? I live in Michigan but I am willing to travel.

Tax Practice Pro Inc responded on 10/29/2017
A

There is nothing on the schedule right now. We had an advanced class in Denver in July. It would be nice to do something in Michigan as the law develops this year.
